Cutting hair with razors?

people talk about razor cut hair. do they actually cut cut the hair with a shaving razor or somethign else. i want this layered long choppy hair cut and i'm starting to think that a razor will help. will someon explain the whole razorcut thing to me????

You don't have to ask for a razor cut. Just tell the hairstylist what you want your haircut to look like (bring a picture of it with you, if possible) and the stylist will decide whether and when to use the scissors or the razor.

razoring is when they take special siccors %26amp; thin it out almost, i have it done sometimes but its not the best thing to get done b/c u get split ends faster.

My stylist razors my hair. She does the whole haircut with regular cutting scissors, and then afterwards she takes a straight razor (a razor with a handle coming out of the end like a knife, not like a razor for shaving your legs) and pulls the hair out and runs the razor over lightly. It gives more layers and texture because it's not cutting every hair the same length. And I've never had a problem with split ends because of it. For some styles, razoring is the best way to go, but the stylist has to be good at it.

u can get a razor cut with special scissors that the hair ppl kinda drag down ur hair to thin itt out and give u a razor look, also there used to be (back in the 60s or sumthing)a special comb that looked like to combs put together witha ascrew and a razor blade in between them then they would just practically comb their hair and get the razor do..or actually use a razor blade and do the little "razoring" motion and get itt that way...btw next time dont be afraid to ask ur hair person to explain itt to u im sure they wont mind

Hehe, I wanted my hair the same. Except medium choppy hair.

I went to the salon, and they used this little device with different types of razors all in one. She razored the ends and it doesn't really hurt like a razor, but Razor Cut Ends are supposed to be like feathers at the bottom, hard to explain but its supposted to look really feathered and choppy kind of, not exactly straight cut at the ends, if your talking about Razor Cut Ends.

I'm no salon person, but the lady explained a bit, but my mom explained most.
