Help with this cut for curly hair?

I have long curly/wavy hair. I want to chop it off to where it comes just above my shoulders. But I want the cut to nicely frame my face. A long time ago when I cut my long hair short, I wasn't happy with the results coz it looked "boxy". The bottom part of the cut wasn't sitting close to my neck if you know what I mean.

I don't want it to look boxy. I want the cut to stick close to my face and neck frame. So what should I be exactly telling the stylist so she really understands my need?

I wish I could draw a photo here...to show you the way I'd like and the way I don't like.

Do you think that for this cut, the hair should be cut in layers?

Or should all strands be the same length?

Thanks so much for ur help.

bring in pics and ask the hairdresser what can be done to make it less boxy.

i would say blowdrying your hair into and around your neck would give the best results

I have curly hair. Yes, it has to be cut in layers. Google short curly hairstyles, find a picture of the cut you want, print it out and bring it to the salon.

Here's one of the sites you might find your hairstyle at: http://www.curly-hair-styles-magazine.co...

Also, when making your appointment ask who is the best hairdresser for curly hair and have them do it. I think curly styles can be difficult to cut so you'll want someone who knows the quirks of curly hair.

Good Luck.
