I m a man in his mid-20s, with thick hair. I have lately observed in my shower that i have a lot of hair fall off, when i shampoo. I have counted this, and this is atleast 30 stands of hair. At other times, when I play with my hair, unconciously, i seem to pull another 10 strands of hairs or more. This has never happened to me, so far. I m used to having stronger hair. I m worried that i m going to go bald, like my friends in their mid-20s. Btw, I m on depakote 250 mg, which is a very low dose, compared to 1250 mgs that is normally prescribed. What complicates the issue is that i have a maternal grandfather, which is bald. However, both my parents, including my mom, have heathy hair. For more information, my mom's sister also has heathy hair. Is this something to worry about? Should i cut my hair short? Will it solve the problem? Or should I try a good shampoo?

Well, spiky is SO in. But then again, with it in your face, it's a big hit too. Maybe you could dye your hair color the natural color, and then the streaks will be gone and your roots will stay the same because it's your natural hair color.

the abercrombie hair is short and doesnt have gel. you have to choose a hair cut that complements your face. if you have a sorta "band" look than grow out your hair and if you have and abercombie look keep it short. let the blonde streaks grow out and then cut them cause if you die it again its just going to repeat itself.

Hey to make this story short In the beginning of Jan, 2005 i cut my hair to my chin and the back i shaved it cause i wanted it to grow healty from all the dyed i did to my hair now its way pass my shoulders I been taking multi vitamins everyday and I dont really blow dry my hair.Atleast once a week i put a deep conditioner in how long you can say my hair will get pass my breast?

You're hair grows1/2 per month and thats average. Its also based on health, hormones, and what you pur into your body. I did that in 10th grade, chopped my hair to my shoulders. I'd say about a year and a half or so. Because it was like to my breast for Senior pictures. Now its down to the middle of my back.

long hair can make any size woman look frumpy. If your short it tends to draw you down to the ground more. I do find most heavy women under 5'5'' with long hair look heavier and shorter than if they cut the hair to just above shoulders at least. Now, that doesn't mean shave your head either. Consider the side profile when making such a decision please! If your face is well rounded and your heaver you get double chins and then by cutting that hair off you have no safety zone. I find that a medium length and sometimes choppy to allow hight and movement works well on many heavier women. Adding color and highlights gives a great new look to this style as well. It draws the eyes up instead of straight to the roundness of ones body or chin area.

I'm probably not the best to give advice..my idea of a haircut is telling the young lady cutting my hair to use a number three trimmer on the sides and back and scissor cut to half inch on top. From the look of your hair as it is, is just fine. But what I think you are really asking is "what will make me look more grown up or mature"

When I was a kid we used to call it a "ratted" look. Kind of like if I went to sleep with styling gel on it and had a fight with myself and the pillow.

The result was a dishevolded look but it was just enough on the edge to get the teachers and principal upset so that is what we did.

You also may consider a color change. Orange or purple? No --- that is to much like a clown. Ahhh Black Coal Black!!!

Really what you think looks good is what you should do. But no matter what remember it will always grow back out.

As much as it sucks, you're just going to have to deal with it. Freedom of speech doesn't apply in schools (especially private schools, which I doubt you're in). The funny (and contradictory) thing about it was that they said I couldn't have any hair color that didn't occur in nature, and then the principal said, "that's not natural...unless you're 90", which would make it natural, no? I suffered a stroke a couple of years ago-and was unable to maintain my long hair-I cut it very short to keep from being so upset everytime I tried to fix it. I have hair extensions :) I have power ring hair extensions, which means that they're not bonded to my hair, it's a small ring attached to my hair with a piece of hair attached within the ring and my hair and clamped shut. I LOOVE THEM! You know what i paid over 600 in the salon and off ebay i bought them for $200 and applied them with a friend and they are as good as what i got in the salon :)

The pro for me is that they were worth every cent, i feel more conifdent and i love my new look.

Look around a lot of salons and find the best prices and methods, be honest, if they want over 1000 ask if they would do it for 900, try and bargain a bit, :o)

you could get a stylist to glue the tracks in ( they go on your scalp not your hair), but that lasts from 2-4 weeks

If you have coarse hair you could get your own hair braided and tracks sewn in

with this style your hair can stay healthy because you wont be applying heat to it, the weave also lasts longer this way

Well, I have pretty long hair too! It goes until about 4 inches from my waist. So it's pretty long. you could try putting it in 2 braids. I do that alot and it looks real cute! but ive got side bangs so that adds a lot of cuteness! You could also do a sloppy bun like i do sometimes.

Sloppy Bun:

1) pull hair back into a ponytail

2) start to put hair into another ponytail, but when your almost done, instead of pulling your hair all the way through the band, only pull it halfway through.

3) mess it up and throw it everywhere. then pin in the3re with bobby pins and more ponytails

Permy Look:

1) take 2 eggs

2) throw the yokes away, but put the whites (the clear part) into a medium sized bowl

3) get out your beaters and start whippin' those babies!

4) once you have a bowl of white foamy bubble stuff, get your hair damp. (this could work if you've just gotten out of the shower)

5) smooth and spread the egg white stuff through your whole hair.

6) now flip your head everywhere and scrunch it with your hands to make it curly-ish while your blowdrying it.

7) you could also use a diffuser if you have one to make your hair all curly.

8) you should end up with something that looks like you got a perm!

after some practice, youll get real good at this style! It's really pretty if you have long hair, and you can also add a flower to make it extra beautyous!

I don't know if you mean like a really short cut or just a slight change. I would not go too much shorter at first. I would do layers--even around the side of your face a little.

Remember if you go to a good stylist, you can take it slow and let her cut it a little and see what you think of that with layers and then proceed to go further with it if you want. Go to one who will take their time and not rush you out of the chair. Tell them that you want to do that and they will understand and if they don't--go to someone else who will. Usually the nicer salons will try to please their customers. you often get what you pay for so don't slight yourself when it comes to your hair.

Also, if it hurts to brush it, try using the technique of holding a bit of hair in one hand and brushing it in the other. When you move the brush over the hair, the tension (and pain) stops where the hand is gripping the hair; next to no pain is felt at the root of the hair, on the scalp.

this is something she needs to talk to your hubby about. I don't really know the texture of her hair but you could try using a scarf to cover her hair after she brushes it. Brush her hair then put it in a ponytail or just twist it up. I am damned arrogant about my hair, cuz it's down to my hips and as healthy as ever. Leave her hair ratty for the week, and then comb it, roughly like my mother did. She mightl like the slow, gentle sensation of the brush on her scalp and the smell of the biosilk, if you don't rush her into brushing it. Let it take some time, if she has to keep it long. Or let her cut it short, and do the same thing and it'll still be healthy if she's too lazy to brush it cuz of the biosilk.
