What are some quick, easy updo's for very long hair?

My hair is all one length and reaches about to my lower back now. I love my hair it is very beautiful, but it really gets in the way at work. I mostly work outside and I was wondering if someone could give me some quick simple ideas as to how to put it up. I'm a simple person and all I've ever done to it was a ponytail or bun, but I want something different. And cutting my hair is not an option..I love my hair.

YOu know how you pull a quick pony tail through your hair but ony half way? Then you have the pieces that kind of stick out from the bottom og the pony tail? Do that but make it look "clean" as though you were actualy putting in a pony. then wrap that part, the bottom of the ponytail aroung the elastic band. then get the sided of the pony and pull it down to the side on both sides, it will kind of make a fan. Goodness I hope this makes sense, I can totally see it in my mind I hope you can understand how I explained it. Once you do it, it is really simple, I promise

try a clip - I like the medium size hair clips (2 to 3 in), but if you get your hair twisted right, you can make it stay with a smaller clip. Start like you're going to do a ponytail, then wrap your hair up around one thumb, and then sort of accordian fold it against your head with your free hand so that all of your hair is tucked against your head and under that first loop around your thumb - pull your thumb out of the loop and tucked all along the seem till it feels like a french twist - then clip so that the teeth of the clip go into the bulk of the hair, but also catch some from the non-tucked side. It will take some practice, but it's very fast after you get used to it, and with the right clip, it will stay all day!

Braids are another out of the face option.
