My norwegian wood cat just got a lion cut [it was necessary the vet said].. and he looks so pathetic now! How long will it take for a cat's hair to grow back.. he had long orange hair so I'm expecting a half year to a year... but it's been four months and it doesn't seem like it's getting any longer! Poor animal...

Poor baby. For a cat's full coat (both under and upper) to grow back, it could take up to 6-12 months. Enough will grow back to look semi-normal, but the undercoat may not thicken up for a while.

Your cat will be fine. It's summer, and your guy is more comfortable than you may imagine.

Your eye is tricking you. Give it another 2 months, and you'll start cleaning up the hair again. In another 6 months, you'll see the break of fur, but it will be lush and pretty. It's alright.

The area that the vet shaved to spay my cat still has not grown back... and she was spayed in February!! On the other hand, her sister that was spayed at the same time has a belly full of hair. So I think it just depends, but like I said it has been five months and she only has a light coat of hair on her belly. I just tell her she looks beautiful and pray that it someday grows back... On a side note, can I say that I am jealous that you have a Norwegian? I think they are so cool!
