Older women and long hair?

Do you think there is an age where women should start wearing their hair shorter? I have pretty long hair (down to the middle of my back) and I by no means think I am at that point yet, however I am turning 37 this year and have had people make comments to me such as, "keep it long now because once you turn 40 you'll have to cut it" or "you only have a few more years left of long hair then it just starts to look silly on people".

I take good care of my hair, it's thick and I get it colored every 2-3 months to hide all those pesky grays coming in. But is there some magic age where I need to cut it short? I really like my hair long because it's easier to care for and I can throw it in a pony tail in the summer. Also I am a mother of 4 boys age 13, 13, 10, and 8 and I look young for my age. I still get carded!

Older women and long hair?

Hi, I think its ridiculous for people to put an age to hair style's. If YOU like you hair then that is all that matters. Most women who comment on hair are either envious* and U know what I mean or they have the ugly* short cut. With longer hair were able to style it in several different ways. I think long hair is very sexy on women.

I am a mother of 3, and my youngest daughter is 7 she has long hair down to her waist, it's very thick and shiny. My hair is to the middle of my back and after brushing my daughters hair my husband asked me why I don't let my hair grow out longer? So its to peoples preference. I have noticed when I curl my hair that many women always say "gosh, how do you have the time with 3 kids to curl your hair?.. I cant waist time doing that.."

I love curling my hair and always looking my best. :O)

I hope I have helped you NOT want to cut your hair!

Think twice :O)

Older women and long hair?

wear your hair however you want there is no age limit!

Older women and long hair?

No, it is a matter of personal preference.

Older women and long hair?

do not do what ppl say do what you want to do what you think is best

Older women and long hair?

as long as it's not gray

Older women and long hair?

Why should you conform to other people's ideals?

Leave it long for as long as you feel happy with it

Even if you wanted to wear it long %26amp; grey, it's no one else's concern

Older women and long hair?

Being a 40+ male, I happen to really like long hair on women. Of course, as long as it is well kept and smells nice, there is no reason not to have something that you like.

Older women and long hair?

There is absolutely no age limit on the length of hair.

Take care of your hair (like you've been doing) and enjoy it. :)

P.S. I'm also over 30 and keep my hair long.

Older women and long hair?

some people have problems with it....they think that moms should have short hair, then later, older women, etc.....some people look better with short hair and others look better with longer hair,.....just make sure it is healthy and clean and you'll be fine....don't cut your hair to fit in with other people's opinions.

Older women and long hair?

Good lord, NO! I am 23, and there is nothing that makes me think a woman is more beautiful than thick, long, GRAY hair right down their back. Infact, when i see it, i envy them, because my hair is thinner, and i will never be able to grow it past my breast.

keep your hair.

Older women and long hair?

I think that long hair is great on older ladies. I plan to keep mine long. I'd say keep it long as long as you can care for it.

Older women and long hair?

its your hair...wear it the way you want to.

Older women and long hair?

It depends on the woman. Look at the beautiful Emmylou Harris:

Older women and long hair?

If it looks good, wear it. It is your own hair, you have the right to wear it the way you want, and nobody has the right to tell you you can't.

I know sooooooooooooo many women who are over 30, 40, or 50 and still have BEAUTIFUL long hair...I think it is becoming more and more common.

Older women and long hair?

If you have long hair and like it, don't cut it! Some older women tend to let it go an ugly color gray and let it hang like a hags. Long, well kept hair looks absolutely fabulous on an older woman. Screw what others tell you.

Older women and long hair?

Please don't ever cut your hair, stop the trend. There's nothing worse that the old lady mushroom head trend, especially if it's purple. Buck the system!!

Older women and long hair?

Leave it long! There is nothing I hate more than women with short man-do's! Seriously!

Older women and long hair?

I have seen older women with beautiful long gray or white hair. Not down to the middle of the back, but past the shoulders. I think it depends on the condition of your hair. If it looks good I don't see anything wrong with having it long.

Older women and long hair?

as long as you look young, but it's rediculous when women 40+ have it longer than bra strap, right below shoulders is good

Older women and long hair?

dear why do u care about ur age why do u have to act or do something ur not comfortable with doin it just b u do what ever u like to do live ur life n forget ur age age is just a number of days i know ppl they r still young but they look older n they act older so its all in u good luck

Older women and long hair?

I dont think there is a "magical" age when hair need be cut. I have pondered this before actually. I wondered why almost all older women have short and/or permed hair. My conclusion was that, it must be easier to care for, or they do it because everyone else is ,lol. Either way, I have seen long gray hair, and as long as it is well cared for, I think it looks great! I would say keep your hair until YOU decide you may want it short.

Older women and long hair?

when women get older, they get wrinkles, wrinkles make your face look long and saggy.. if you wear long hair next to the face, it makes the face look longer and more saggier... its not the condition of the hair that looks bad, its the way it makes them look older...

yes, wear it long, but not next to the face..

i am forty-two, i have shoulder length hair and because i don't have wrinkles, my hair looks good, much better then short.. i take care of my hair, no grey, conditioned and BLONDE

Older women and long hair?

I thought that I'd have to cut my hair short after 40 also, I tried it, but I really don't look good with short hair. I'm 46 now and I wear my hair slightly longer than shoulder length It seems to be the best length for me. They say that longer hair drags your face down more as gravity sets in. Maybe so, but I think we look better when we feel more confident. Wear your hair long as long as you like it and feel good about it.

Older women and long hair?

of course it doesnt matter what age! you have it how you want it.

if you like it, then keep it!

only let your opinion effect your life.

Older women and long hair?

I consider you young. If you like what you do to your hair, enjoy it. I hope they don't make rules for hair.

Older women and long hair?

well it all depends. I don't think anyone should have to cut their hair regardless of what others say but I do agree that having ultra long hair (past the shoulders) in some/many cases is not such a good idea when it comes to older age. It probably does look good on you so keep it. My mom just turned 49 today, she looks amazing for her age (no sun ever!) and her hair is long. However, I tell her that if she wants to keep the long hair to take care of it, do it and color it or let it go grey/white. The worst is when you are older, and your hair is always in a "I don't care" bun or ponytail, when ur re-growth is always showing or when it is rediculously frizzy or un-tammed, lol. These are the only reasons why people say old women should not have long hair; the majority of women over the age of 30 (maybe used to) make it look bad by not caring. hope this helps and don't cut ur locks if they are beautiful!!!! :)

Older women and long hair?

Who cares what other ppl think , so do what you want its you hair your body, no one cares if they do they are just jealous,if you want to cut it off and spike it and dye it bright pink like my 50 something beautiful friend did that's all in your on taste she is very pretty at that, you do what you want with your hair!!

Older women and long hair?

A lot depends on your' face shape. I used to have long hair until I reached 40. After that I had it cut to shoulder length but after reaching 45 I had to have it short. Long hair can make some women look older. I was recently told that short hair suits my 'elfish face', and I'm now 57.

Older women and long hair?

I think that too often woman hold on to long hair because they think that long = beautiful. I've heard women say "my hair is my trademark, it's what I have that still looks good" Long ratty hair that is over processed and scraggly is not beautiful, and in some cases can make you look older than you are. If it's just long and not flattering, then take the plunge and try something new. My mom has shoulder length salt and pepper gray hair and it's actually very flattering on her. As you get older your face changes, your coloring changes, and your hairstyle needs to flatter you as you change. If you still are rocking the long hair and it looks healthy and shiny, then go for it!

Older women and long hair?

My mom is 47 and she still has long straight hair down to the middle of her back and I would be so upset if she cut it!!! She still gets carded sometimes too. She has some like anti-aging gene or soemthing. Guess you got blessed with that too. Don't cut it!!! You'll regret it if you do. Girl if you cut that hair especially after all the comments you're getting it will almost be like surrendering to old age. Stay young and beautiful as long as you can.

Older women and long hair?

You might want to, especially if you're drawing a bit too much attention.
