Is letting females have the right to have long hair in school and making guys cut it sexual discrimi

My school district won't let guys have their hair below their eyebrows, above the mid-point of the collar and they have to have the hair showing. Girls can have their hair as long as they wish. They guys get In School if they have longer hair than what the standards are. I think that it is sexual discrimination twords males at our schools.

That's really stupid. There's no reason for it.

Its the same at my school too. Yes I do believe it is a bit unfair that they have to have it cut but most guys would keep it in their face while girls keep it out of their face. But I wish they got rid of that rule guys look sooo cute with shaggy hair!

To me, as long as your hair is washed and looks like it's taken care of, who cares what it's length is?

According to the law, it's really only discrimination when a rule like that puts an undue burden on one of the sexes. Like, perhaps, saying boys have to keep their hair at a certain length and color that doesn't even occur in nature.

The world is full of contradictions when it comes to this kind of thing, and not to seem insensitive, but it's just going to keep happening, you might as well get used to it :(

no, guys r supposed to have short hair. long hair on guys went out in the 90's

I think that definitely could be interpreted as sexual discrimination. Bring up the subject with your principal!

Nah. Is it "sexual discrimination" that in the uniform policies, it's only the girls who can wear skirts? NO!!! We're different. Cutting your hair isn't killing you, and that's how society expects a gentleman's hair to be.

As much as it sucks, you're just going to have to deal with it. Freedom of speech doesn't apply in schools (especially private schools, which I doubt you're in). I'm 21 now, but I was suspended at least 4 times for "poor hairstyle choices" including dying my hair a shade of blue. The funny (and contradictory) thing about it was that they said I couldn't have any hair color that didn't occur in nature, and then the principal said, "that's not natural...unless you're 90", which would make it natural, no? Don't even get me into those shake and bake tans that turn girl's skin orange!

Anyway, I see their side of it. There are so many things these days that distract kids from schoolwork and learning (which is why you're really there), that it's easier for them to make everyone look uniform. Besides, if you make a big stink about it, you're doing the exact thing that caused them to make that rule in the first place.
