i had beautiful long hair, got stopped in the city and they asked if i wanted to be a hair model, i agreed they chopped it all off into a emo hair cut short as short at the back with a long black fringe at the front. cried for days turned out to be the worst mistake of my life

In high school I got a pixie cut after my hair was halfway down my back. I loved it, and I've only managed to grow my hair back out long enough for a pony tail twice in the 8 years since then. I much prefer how I look with short hair and it's easier to style and wash.

8 months ago my hair was down to the middle of my back. I cut it into a short angular bob (think Victoria Beckham) because it was getting too scraggly %26amp; expensive to maintain. It dragged my whole face down and made me look old. When I told my hairdresser what I wanted she shouted "At last!". I have to admit it turned out spectacular %26amp; I really love my cut. OHH OHH I did I did even though i miss my long hair that was half way down my back.....and I Looveee ittt.....i colored my hair dark and it got really dry so i got a bob haircut ...and then a 2 months later i got another hair cut like victoria beckham but a longer version and i always get compliments for it...

I had long blond hair half way down my back, the guy that I was dating at the time told me that if I ever cut my hair off that he would leave me, well I left him and the next day I had it cut right off and died it dark brown, I have to say that I loved it and so did my friends... but I did miss having longhair from time to time and it takes a long time to grow back and while its growing back it didnt' look to great.... but I do cut it right off every cupple years.. it's a nice change and really it's only hair it will grow back...

I've done that several times. Usually, I was tired of long, boring hair getting in the way. My first career was as a hairdresser, so I have also wanted to have fun with my hair. You know, "I think I'll go red now." "Hmm...I like that crazy style I've been cutting a lot at work. Think I'll try that one." In fact, right now I have been looking for a new style (if I see another spiky style I'll choke) because my hair is down to my hips, and I, for one, am tired of it!

How about you?

Oh, yes -my new styles worked out great because, being a hairdresser, I knew what to expect, and how to deal with it. I'm one to change what I do with my hair everyday. I'm easily bored.

Hello. Yes, I very recently chopped off my own hair. That's right, I did it myself. Anyhow, I'd had long hair for the longest time, and I was desperate for a change. My friend had cut her hair, and I was inspired to do the same. I did a bob, and I loved it. I think it helped that I did it myself just because I had to trust that I would do a good job - it put me in control, as opposed to having a stranger cut it for you. But, I'm sure it would turn out great with a pro at a salon as long as you are very clear about exactly what you want, and you are open to the change. Anyway, I love the look I have now, and if you're thinking about cutting your hair off, I say go for it! Good luck!

My mother talked me into it ... I hated it ... it took years to recover. Maybe I would've felt differently then if we could've afforded the time and money necessary to persistently *fight* my naturally thin, fine, nearly-straight hair, rather than work with it.

Decades later I lost 5' length to chemo. That was easier to take. That hadn't been because of "fashion". It just *was*. I had another taste of short hair and shoulder-length, etc. and I *still* prefer longer. It's almost back to "full" length again now. I consider this time to have been a better experience. I learned I'm not defined by my hair, etc. I consider the earlier haircut to have been hormone-induced pubescent idiocy.

My doctor did a Britney to my waist length hair for a brain surgery couple of years ago. I was really depressed about it at first, but friends and others on the street thought it was really cool. Now I'm back to long hair, but I sometimes miss how convenient it was to have a shaved head. All I had to do was use tissue paper to dry my head. Now it takes 40 minutes with a hair dryer.

My hair grows pretty fast and is also thick, so I chop it off regularly. Living in southeast Texas, it's almost a necessity. :) Every Spring when it starts to warm up, I cut my hair to about an inch or two above shoulder length, and by next Spring it is already about halfway down my back. Then it's time for me to cut it short again. It's really funny sometimes to see the shocked looks of some of the stylists when I tell them what I want done. They almost always say "But you have such pretty long hair!". Some people say I look better with long hair, and others say it looks better short. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. I like both looks, but I do have to admit that short hair is much easier to manage.

My hair dresser cut my hair in steps %26amp; I ended up w/ a great geometric bob that only she can do.

Since my hair dresser moved away, I have gone through several short hair cuts %26amp; love the convenience.

Occasionally, I miss my long hair %26amp; try to grow it out. After a couple of months get frustrated because it takes more time to style %26amp; can't find a longer style I like so I return to a short hair cut.

When I was 11 my hair was just past my waist, and everyone at school kept telling me to cut it, so I begged mom to cut it off up to my shoulders. Mom, in her infinite wisdom, stopped just below my shoulder blades, and two days later (after the novelty had worn off), I took a good long look at it and thanked her for not listening to me.

I spent a few years being mercilessly teased about my lack of style while it was growing out, but by the time I reached 9th grade it was nearly back to my waist and I was again getting compliments on it. Still, a friend of mine was coming to school with a new haircolor every couple weeks, and I started wanting to layer mine and dye it black. Mom talked me out of the haircut by reminding me how much I hated the last one, but I was deadset on black hair until I found out from a professional that no amount of stripping would bring my original color back, I'd just have to wait for the dullness to grow out. So, my hair has never been so much as temporarily highlighted.

I'm 22 now, my hair is just past my butt, and I'm again working on the goal peer pressure almost stopped me from reaching: knee-length hair. If you're used to long hair, it's actually not as annoying as some people might think.

I assume you're thinking about going short. If you do, don;t do any cowardly halfway measures. Cut it REALLY short. Like a Buzz Cut. It will be one of the most exciting experiences of your life. You'll look cute. And you'll love the convenience.

I had long hair that nearly reached my waist but the washing and conditioning of it was time consuming. I decided to have it cut short because I felt I needed a change. I have absolutely no regrets about it. My short hair is so much quicker and easier to look after. It is now really short... about 5 Cm's..... and doesn't take any time to wash or dry!! I buy shampoo and conditioner and it lasts for about six months because I only have to use the smallest amount on my hair!!

Cutting off all your hair is a big decision! Once its gone its gone, you just have to deal with it until it grows back. Can I make a suggestion and get a wig that is similar to the style that you want. That way you can walk around with that hair style, get other people opinions, see how you like it, see what you can do with hair that length etc etc.

When I was younger, I had hair to the middle of my back and i had it cut to a short style (hard to explain sort of short at the back and came down to a chin lenght at the front) well anyway the moral of the story is that i loved it at first.. for about a week, then grew to hate it with a passion. It took me 6 years for it to grow back to the length it was before! Imagine living with hair you hate for 6 years!!! Honestly I think you should get a wig first.
